From quiet bars to public parks you’ve never ventured inside, no matter how many times you’ve visited Manchester there is always something new to discover. The rich and varied history we enjoy and the sprawling expanse of the city means there is something different to explore around every corner. Behind the walls of the gorgeous architecture are places that sometimes even locals don’t often visit. All of our hidden gem suggestions are within walking distance of your ideal accommodation, PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments Manchester.

The Kings Arms may not look like much from the outside but it’s a great all-rounder pub. Not only do they serve a variety of drinks, the food is top-notch. They serve one of the best roast Sunday dinners in Manchester, home-cooked by Aunty Hilda and served with a giant Yorkshire pud. Not only is it a great pub, they also host a great variety of events, almost every day of the week. With everything from theatre, live music, festivals, comedy shows, poetry recitals and more, you’re sure to cross some unusual and fascinating locals.

Mackie Mayor is one of the cities newest markets and has already cemented itself firmly in the hearts of foodies across the city. The building itself is a Grade II listed former meat market but has been filled with long, sociable tables surrounded by a variety of street food vendors. The building is warm and beautiful with a gigantic glass roof creating a fantastic atmosphere. They have a little of everything, from tacos & pizzas to coffee & desserts so all palettes are catered to.

Manchester Arena is where you go to see all of the hottest singers, bands and comedians but where do you go for something a little alternative? Band on the Wall is a two-minute walk from our aparthotel in Manchester and is an excellent place to enjoy some home-grown talent. Set in a former cinema space, Band on the Wall is Manchester’s equivalent to Liverpool’s Cavern Club (without The Beatles!). Live music from rock to reggae and folk is played in this intimate, friendly venue which has been recently renovated and is better than ever. The venue is run as a charitable organisation and offers a musical outreach programme for up and coming stars.

St. Johns Gardens is one of Manchester’s most underrated parks, it’s also the only public park inside the city centre. It is often overlooked as people flock to the gorgeous Whitworth Gallery and gardens. Previously occupied by St. Johns Church, it was redeveloped and reopened in 1932 as a formal garden and public park. Just 20-minutes’ walk from your serviced apartment in Manchester is a safe, cosy haven for you to enjoy the warm weather or stroll with a hot chocolate in the colder months. There are over 22,000 people buried in the former graveyard but instead of being a spooky site, it’s a welcome, comfortable green space in the otherwise bustling city.

Manchester has many high streets, shopping centres and department stores which combine to make us one of the top shopping destinations in the UK. Unfortunately, with so many high-street favourites, there are very little original gifts or unique clothing on offer. If you’re looking for a gorgeous hand-made gift for yourself or a friend, the Craft and Design Centre is less than 5-minutes’ walk from our aparthotel in Manchester. Here you’ll find all manner of gift ideas, from jewellery to pottery and everything in between. It’s the perfect place to pick up a gorgeous memento of your time in the city.
